Christy began her surety career with Universal Surety of America (USA) in 1988 as an underwriting assistant, and eventually moved into a contract surety underwriting role after graduating from the University of Houston in 1991. She continued her education by completing the Insurance Institute of America’s Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding designation in 1997. Christy remained at USA through the acquisition by Capsure Holdings and later by CNA Insurance Company, gaining experience in marketing and underwriting both specialty and standard small- to mid-size construction firms. For three years beginning in 2000, she took a position as Surety Branch Manager for the Houston office of Insurance Company of the West, increasing her exposure to contractors in the mid-market segment of the industry. In 2003 Christy joined some of her former colleagues at SureTec Insurance Company, where she presently oversees the Houston branch contract surety operation.
Christy served as Surety Association of Houston President in 2001. She enjoys traveling off-the-beaten-path to destinations such as Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Dubai, Oman, and Ecuador. She practices yoga, enjoys flower and herb gardening, cooking – and is trying to find time to master the game of golf!
