Brent has over 20 years of surety experience, first as an attorney for surety companies, and then as an underwriter. After graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, he went to South Texas College of Law, graduating in 1987 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.
Brent started his career as a tax accountant, but soon moved into the surety industry as an attorney in the Surety Claims Department for Fidelity & Deposit Company (now a part of Zurich Insurance). In 1993, Brent went to work for Universal Surety of America (now a part of CNA Surety) as a Claims Attorney, and remained there until 2000, when he went back to Zurich Insurance and worked as a Claims Attorney until 2004. In 2004, Brent joined the SureTec team as an underwriter in the Contract Bond Department. Currently, Brent is a Senior Underwriter in the Houston office.
Brent has served as an officer in the Surety Association of Houston, and was also an officer in the Construction Law Section of the Houston Bar Association. Currently, Brent is on the Board of a private high school in Houston.
Brent has a daughter and a son and resides in Houston, Texas.
