If you would like to provide us
with a progress report on our contractor, irrespective of your concern over
performance, please click here. When contacting us about a performance bond issue, concern, or question, it
would be very helpful if you had the following information available:
- The bond number and project description
- The original contract amount
- The amount of all change orders agreed upon
- The amount of any pending change orders
- The amount the contractor has been paid to date
- The names of any suppliers or subcontractors who
may have contacted you regarding payment or non-payment
- The name and contact information for the architect
or engineer
- The original scheduled completion date of the
project and any revised date
- A general statement of any operational or
performance concerns
- Your contact information, including e-mail address
While our ability to intervene
may be limited or require an actual declared default, we are interested in
knowing about problems in advance and being afforded an opportunity to avoid a
default before one occurs. The Associated General Contractors of America, the National Association of
Surety Bond Producers, the Surety Association of America, and the Surety
Information Office have collaborated on an information booklet entitled "An
Overview of the Contract Bond Claims Process" This booklet contains an excellent
overview of the performance bond claims process and may be viewed or downloaded
by clicking here.
